Colorado Dental Charities and Non-Profit Dental Clinics

The Colorado Dental Association supports Colorado charities and non-profit dental clinics. Following is a list of these organizations in Colorado that are always looking for dental volunteers and assistance.

Non-profit health centers are located throughout the state. These health centers offer medical and dental care to people without insurance and with low-income. To volunteer or to find a health center in your area, click here to see the current directory:

Non-Profit Health Centers Throughout Colorado

KIND (Kids In Need of Dentistry)

KIND has provided low-cost dental care since 1912 to children up to age 18 whose families are lower income but working, and who don’t have dental insurance. KIND operates five dental clinics throughout metro Denver serving over 4,000 children annually. A KIND mobile dental clinic travels over the Western Slope as well, serving over 1,000 children annually.

Howard Dental Center

Howard Dental Center (HDC) provides oral healthcare for men, women and children living with HIV or AIDS within the five county metropolitan Denver area. The center provides the full range of dentistry and has the goal of providing high-quality dentistry for patients. Fees are charged based on income. The majority of patients are indigent and pay nothing for their care. The Howard Dental Center is funded through the Ryan White Care Act, foundations, corporations, individual gifts, special events and income earned through fees.

National and Colorado Foundation of Dentistry for the Handicapped

The Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit, provides dental health services to the medically compromised, elderly and people with mental and physical disabilities through three programs: Campaign of Concern, Dental House Calls and Donated Dental Services. Since 1985, 673 dentists and 228 laboratories have donated over $9 million worth of services to 6,871 individuals across the state. Nationwide, 10,000 dentists and 2,500 laboratories in 31 other states have donated over $50 million in comprehensive dental care.

Melvin Turner Trust

The Melvin Turner Trust is a new program managed by the Colorado Springs Dental Society. It began with a $33,000 contribution from Mr. Melvin Turner who asked that the funds be used to provide dental care to indigent children. The trust, in cooperation with Childhood Development, currently provides dental care to siblings of Head Start children in the El Paso County area. The Colorado Springs Dental Society is participating in various fundraising efforts to expand the trust principle and increase the number of children treated.

Dental Aid

Dental Aid has a 30 year history of providing reduced-fee preventive and restorative dental care to low-income and uninsured residents of Boulder and Broomfield counties. It operates three family clinics in Boulder, Longmont, and Lafayette, and a children's clinic in Louisville. Dental Aid welcomes people of all ages, the mentally and physically challenged, and persons who are HIV positive.

Inner City Health Center

The Inner City Health Center is a private non-profit, volunteer-based health care facility committed to improving the health of low-income and medically uninsured families. The principle objective is to express love for Jesus Christ, love for people, and deep concern for their physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. The clinic fees are pro-rated from full fees and adjusted according to the income level of each family.

Denver Rescue Mission

The Denver Rescue Mission's chief goal is to meet people at their physical and spiritual points of need. We provide food, shelter and clothing, along with practical programs of education, Christian teaching, and work discipline with the aim of returning the poor, needy, and homeless to society as self-sufficient, productive citizens.
