CDA Executive Committee
President
Dr. Jeanne M. Salcetti is a board-certified periodontist and has practiced in Colorado Springs since 1995. Originally a dental hygienist, she completed her B.S. degree from the University of Maryland. She then joined the UM faculty for six years, first in the Department of Dental Hygiene and later in the Department of Periodontics. She then pursued her D.D.S. and graduated from the University of Maryland. She attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for her periodontics residency where she received her certificate in periodontics and an M.S. degree in dentistry. Dr. Salcetti is a fellow of the American College of Dentists, the International College of Dentists and the Pierre Fauchard Academy.
Immediate Past President
Dr. Rhett L. Murray is a graduate of the University of Denver and the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry (1976). He has practiced general dentistry in Aurora since 1977. Dr. Murray served as president of MDDS, the Colorado Prosthodontic Society and the Denver Academy of Clinical Dentistry. He is a recipient of the MDDS Honus Maximus Award. He serves as a consultant to the Colorado State Board of Dental Examiners and is a clinical assistant professor at the CU School of Dentistry. He is a member of the Denver Academy of Clinical Dentistry, Colorado Prosthodontic Society, International College of Dentists and Pierre Fauchard Academy.
President-Elect
Dr. Jeffery M. Hurst graduated from Creighton University in 1981 and has been in private practice in Lakewood for the past 26 years. He served for eight-years on the MDDS Board, completing his last year as president of MDDS. He continues to enjoy representing organized dentistry as a media spokesperson. Dr. Hurst has been a delegate to the CDA for 21 years and enjoys serving on the Executive Committee. He is a member of the Pierre Fauchard Academy, and a fellow of the American College of Dentists and International College of Dentists.
Vice President
Dr. David C. Lurye is a 1985 graduate of the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. He attended the University of Bergen, Norway Dental School in 1984 through an exchange program. Dr. Lurye served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Public Health Service and worked in three Indian Health Service hospitals/clinics. He has had a private practice in Winter Park since 1988, and teaches one day a week at the CU School of Dentistry. Dr. Lurye is a past president of the Western Colorado Dental Society, and a fellow in the Academy of Dentistry International, American College of Dentists, International College of Dentists, and Pierre Fauchard Academy.
Secretary
Dr. Thomas R. Pixley is a graduate of Colorado State University and the CU School of Dentistry. He completed his general practice residency at the University of Rochester. He has been in private practice for 20 years in Fort Collins. He has served on numerous boards and committees including the Dentists Professional Liability Trust and the CDA Board of Trustees. He is a member of both the American College of Dentists and International College of Dentists. An avid supporter of organized dentistry, he has worked extensively on access-to-care issues, as well as governmental affairs. Dr. Pixley serves on the Colorado Mission of Mercy (COMOM) Task Force and will be site chair for the 2008 Fort Collins COMOM.
Treasurer
Dr. Pasco W. Scarpella has practiced general dentistry for the past 20 years. After practicing 17 years in Louisville, he established a new practice in Brighton three years ago. He graduated from the University of Missouri in Kansas City. He has been in the CDA House of Delegates for the past 19 years. He is a former CODPAC chair and key contact coordinator, delegate and alternate delegate to the ADA, past-president of the Boulder/Broomfield County Dental Society, and was the CDA editor for over six years. Dr. Scarpella is the chair of the Council on Finance and CDA Enterprises, and is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry. He is a fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy and the International College of Dentists.
Speaker of the House
Dr. Kevin D. Sessa graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1975 and Creighton University School of Dentistry in 1981. He grew up in New York City, but now lives in Louisville and practices general dentistry in Boulder. Dr. Sessa is a past president of the Boulder/Broomfield County Dental Society, past CDA trustee and has held all CDA Executive Committee positions, serving as president in 2000. He has been an ADA delegate and alternate delegate for over 10 years, representing Colorado and the 14th District. He served on the CDA Medical Benefit Plan Board for nine years, serving as treasurer for two years and president for one year. Dr. Sessa is also a past member of the ADA Council on Annual Sessions.
