Prescribing Drugs to Patients
The State of Colorado recently enacted legislation to create a Prescription Drug Monitoring Program to track the prescribing and dispensing of controlled substances. The goal of the program is to provide information to both prescribers (physicians, dentists, optometrists, etc.) and pharmacists to assist them in the proper treatment of their patients. The Colorado State Board of Pharmacy recently notified the CDA to let us know that the Electronic Prescription Drug Monitoring Program is now ‘live” for queries from pharmacists and controlled substance prescribers at www.coloradopdmp.org.
Controlled substance prescribers need their date of birth, social security number, license number, and DEA registration in order to obtain log-in credentials. Please click here for a copy of the letter mailed to all licensed practitioners in Colorado.

Information and Facts about
WATER

accrue to individuals of all ages and socioeconomic
groups, especially to poor children.
- Fact.
Routine consumption of fluoridated water and
proper use of fluoride products is not harmful.

fluoride is when fluoride products are misused, as
in swallowing fluoride toothpaste, or mouth rinses,
inappropriate use of fluoride supplements, or drinking
water with excessive amounts of fluoride.

when the home water supply is known to be deficient
in fluoride. Children under the age of six should
be supervised when using fluoride toothpastes and

confirmed the safety of water fluoridation at optimal
levels (0.7-1.2 parts per million) and its effectiveness
in preventing dental decay.
- Fact.
According to a U.S. Public Health Service analysis,
there is no cancer risk associated with drinking fluoridated
water.
- Fact.
Along with over 2,700 Colorado Dental Association
dentists and 144,000 dentist members of the American

organizations such as the American Medical Association,
American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Cancer
Society, the American Academy of Family Physicians,
and the World Health Organization to name a few.
