HHS Statement Backs Up How Important Flossing Is to Oral Health

The ADA News reported the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has released a statement calling flossing “an important oral hygiene practice,” and not mentioning it in the federal dietary guidelines released in 2015 does not imply otherwise.

CODPAC Interviews State Legislative Candidates

Colorado Board of Education Seeks Feedback on Potential Healthy Beverages Policy Change

The Colorado Board of Education is holding a rulemaking hearing in Grand Junction, Colo., Aug. 10 to discuss changes to its policy on healthy beverages in schools. Specifically, the board will consider a change that would allow diet sodas to be sold in high schools.

New Health First Colorado Provider Enrollment Specialists Are Here to Help You

The Aug. 1 deadline for provider revalidation for Colorado’s Medicaid program, Health First Colorado, has passed, but help is available—from provider enrollment specialists—if you have questions about the process. Clearing Up Confusion About the Affordable Care Act

August 4, 2016

The Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights (HHS OCR) issued a recent rule that implements Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The rule went into effect July 18. This part of the ACA prohibits discrimination in healthcare on the basis of race, color, national origin, age, disability and sex, including discrimination based on pregnancy, gender identification and sex stereotyping. These prohibitions apply to any healthcare provider receiving certain funds through HHS, including Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program. Despite the rule’s good intentions to prohibit discrimination in healthcare, it has left some healthcare providers with many unanswered questions.
